Red Stars sign England defender Asante

06/05/2010 - Bridgeview, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Red Stars signed defender and England national team member Anita Asante on Saturday.

Asante was available as free agent following the dissolution of Saint Louis Athletica last week.

Asante played for 2009 WPS champion Sky Blue FC and was traded to Athletica in May. Asante is the third player to join the Red Stars over the past two days, and she unites with fellow England teammates Karen Carney and Katie Chapman.

Per team policy, terms of Asante's contract were not released.
